How do I register to vote?

  1. You must be a U.S. citizen, a Wisconsin resident and be 18 years old on or before Election Day.
  2. If you have a current and valid Wisconsin Driver’s license or Wisconsin DOT issued identification card, this license or identification number must be provided on the Voter Registration application.
  3. If you do not have a current Wisconsin Drivers License or Wisconsin DOT issued identification card you may use the last four digits of your social security number.

You may register in three different ways:

  1. In Person:  You may register at City Hall, 16773 South Main Street, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  2. By Mail:  Print the Voter Registration and Voter Registration Instructions using the link below.  Complete the application and mail to City Hall, PO Box 327, Galesville, WI  54630.  **Please note that the application must be received at City Hall by the 20th day before the election and that any person registering to vote for the first time and submitting the registration application by mail must provide a copy of acceptable identification.  Please see list below for acceptable forms of proof of residence.
  3. At the Polling Place:  You may register on Election Day at the polling place:  Galesville Public Library Community Room, 16787 South Main Street.  You must bring proof of residency that you have lived at your present address for 28 days preceding the election.  Voting hours are 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Acceptable Forms of Proof of Residence Includes:

  • A current and valid Wisconsin Driver License / ID Card
  • Any other official identification card or license issued by a Wisconsin governmental body or unit
  • An employee ID card with a photograph, but not a business card
  • A real estate tax bill or receipt for the current year or the year preceding the date of the election
  • A residential lease which is effective for a period that includes Election Day (Does not count as proof of residence if elector submits for by mail)
  • A picture ID from a university, college or technical college coupled with a fee receipt
  • A picture ID from a university, college or technical college coupled with an on-campus housing listing by the university, college or technical college to the municipality that denotes US Citizenship
  • A utility bill for the period commencing not earlier than 90 days before the day registration is made
  • (Homeless voters only) A letter from an organization that provides services to the homeless that identifies the voter and describes the location designated as the person’s residence for voting purposes
  • A bank statement
  • A paycheck
  • A check or other document issued by a unit of government
PROOF OF RESIDENCE DOES NOT INCLUDE A PIECE OF MAIL ADDRESSED TO THE VOTER.

Where do I vote?

The Community Room of the Galesville Public Library, 16787 S. Main Street, Galesville, Wisconsin. Polls are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

How do I vote absentee?

You must be a registered voter before applying for an Absentee Ballot.

You may request an absentee ballot using one of the options below:

  1. Request by Mail.  Click on the link below to obtain a  copy of the Applications for Absentee Ballot (EL-121).  Complete the applications and mail to the City Clerk’s Office at PO Box 327, Galesville, WI  54630.  The applications must be received by the City Clerk no later than 5:00 PM on the Thursday before the election in order for an absentee ballot to be mailed to you.
  2. Request by E-Mail or Fax.  A voter may request that a ballot be sent to them by  sending an e-mail (info@cityofgalesvillewi.gov) or fax (608-582-9995) to City Hall.  NOTE:  an e-mailed or faxed request must be followed with an original signature.  Print or copy your request, sign it, and return it with your ballot, but outside the certified ballot envelope.  This request should be made no later than 5:00 PM on the Thursday before the election in order for an absentee ballot to be mailed to you.
  3. Request online using My Vote Wisconsin https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/Vote-Absentee-By-Mail
  4. In-Person at City Hall.  Absentee voting in the Clerk’s office can be done between February 4 to February 14  between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  If you apply for an absentee ballot at City Hall, you will be given the ballot and an envelope to vote immediately.  No ballots may be taken from City Hall.

The completed ballot must be received by City Hall no later than 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

Outstanding Absentee Ballots

Those electors who voted absentee during the Spring Primary, must have their ballot delivered to the polling place by February 18, 2025 at 8:00 p.m., so the ballot may be counted.

Provisional Voters

Those electors who voted provisionally during the February 18, Spring Primary, must provide the missing information (i.e., proof of identification, proof of residence, or driver license/state ID number) to the clerk’s office by February 21, 2025 at 4:00 p.m., so the ballot may be counted.
